Brett Nagel was raised in Lemont, Illinois and played football for Lemont High School.

As a junior a Lemont, Brett Nagel made 19 touchdowns and had four interceptions. As a Senior Brett Nagel rushed for 1,496 yards, made 21 touchdowns and threw for 730 yards and 9 touchdowns. Brett Nagel received many awards including: SuperPrep All-American, 17th best prospect in the Midwest by SuperPrep, ranked 134th best outside linebacker nationally by ESPN, three-time All-South Suburban Conference honoree, two time team Offensive MVP, four time Channel 6 Game MVP and played in the Offense-Defense Bowl.

In 2008, Brett Nagel joined the Northwestern Wildcats football team. Brett Nagel was named Northwestern Wildcats offensive practice player of the week vs Illinois. In 2009, the 6’4” 220 lbs superback played in one game when the Northwestern football team played Towson. Brett Nagel is expected to spend a lot of time on Northwestern Wildcats special teams during the Northwestern Wildcats 2010 football season.
