Cameron Joplin was raised in Ann Arbor, Michigan and played football for Ann Arbor Pioneer High School. As a senior at Ann Arbor Pioneer Cameron Joplin had 18 receptions for 365 yards and 3 touchdowns and during his junior year he had 16 receptions for 200 yards. Cameron Joplin received many honors including SuperPrep All-Midwest, ranked 53-rd-best tight end nationally by ESPN, Ann Arbor News All-Area selection and two-time All-Southeastern Conference honoree. Cameron Joplin was also the first football player in 20 years from Ann Arbor Pioneer to receive a Big Ten athletic scholarship.

In 2007, Cameron Joplin joined the Northwestern Wildcats football team. The 6’5” 265 lbs superback did not play in any games during his first Northwestern Wildcats football season. In 2008, Cameron Joplin was moved from superback to defensive end at the end of the Northwestern Wildcats football season.
