Dan Persa was raised in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania and played football for Liberty High School. Dan Persa had a high school career total 5,779 passing yards, 59 passing touchdowns, 2,526 rushing yards and 32 rushing touchdowns. Dan Persa was the first player in Pennsylvania history to throw for over 2,000 yards and rush for over 1,000 yards in a single season. Dan Persa received a ton of honors while playing for Liberty and just a few were Pennsylvania 4A A.P. Player of the Year, 4A first-team all-state quarterback, Maxwell Club Award for top high school player of the year, Three-time all-area and All-Lehigh Valley Conference quarterback, All-Area Player of the Year and was Platinum 33 selection. Dan Persa was also the quarterback in the 50th Annual Big 33 All-Star game where he was named MVP for rushing for two touchdowns and threw for another.

In 2007, Dan Persa joined the Northwestern Wildcats football team. Dan Persa was named Northwestern Wildcats offensive practice player of the week against Michigan State and Indiana. Dan Persa did not play in any games during his first Northwestern Wildcats football season. In 2008, Dan Persa played on the Northwestern Wildcats special teams. The 6’1” 210 lbs quarterback returned one kickoff return for 15 yards for the Northwestern Wildcats football team. Dan Persa will be the back up quarterback during the 2009 Northwestern Wildcats football season.
