David Arnold was raised in Copley, Ohio and played football for Copley High School. During his junior and senior year at Copley David Arnold made 145 tackles, 12 touchdowns, eight interceptions and 37 receptions for 850 yards. David Arnold received many honors including being ranked 20th-best safety nationally by Tom Lemming, first-team all-league selection, team MVP, Ohio’s Tremendous 26, McDonald’s Athlete of the Week and was selected to play in 2007 Ohio North-South game.

In 2007, David Arnold joined the Northwestern Wildcats football team. David Arnold did not play in any games during his first Northwestern Wildcats football season. In 2008, David Arnold was a 6’1” 220 lbs backup safety for the Northwestern Wildcats football team. David Arnold missed three games due to a knee injury but returned when the Northwestern Wildcats played Iowa. David Arnold will move from safety to outside linebacker for the Northwestern Wildcats 2009 football season.
