Lee Coleman was raised in Gainesville, Georgia and attended East Hall High School.

As a quarterback for the East Hall football team Lee Coleman threw for 1,963 yards and ran for 696 yards. During his career at East Hall Lee Coleman made a total of 4,763 passing yards, 44 passing touchdowns, 1,348 rushing yards, 12 rushing touchdowns and 10 interceptions. Lee Coleman was named three-time team MVP, Offensive Player of the Year, first-team all-area and first-team all-conference.

In 2006, Lee Coleman joined the Northwestern Wildcats football team.
