Tim Riley was raised in Oswego, Illinois and played football for Oswego High School.

During his senior year on the Oswego football team Time Riley rushed for 1,886 yards and made 26 touchdowns. Tim Riley set a school record with 4,536 rushing yards and also made 58 career touchdowns. Tim Riley received many honors including two time Class 6A IHSA All State selection, Chicago Tribune first team all state, Offensive MVP for Southwest Prairie Conference, named Walter Payton Co-Player of the Year, Oswego’s Offensive Player of the Year, Chicago Sun Times Spotlight Player of the Week, Old Spice Red Zone National Player of the Year nominee and Tom Lemming’s Prep Football All Area football team.

In 2009, Tim Riley joined the Northwestern Wildcats football team. Tim Riley was Northwestern University’s defensive practice player of the week against Miami. The 6’3” 220 lbs linebacker is expected to have a lot of playing time on Northwestern University’s special team during the Northwestern Wildcats 2010 football season.
